Tom is an experienced Advanced Practice Physiotherapist and Independent Prescriber with a strong academic and clinical background across both the NHS and the private sector. He has extensive experience in Musculoskeletal (MSK) practice, rheumatology, and orthopaedics. Having initially worked in the private sector as an MSK physiotherapist managing medicolegal physiotherapy cases, Tom has developed a clear understanding of medicolegal rehabilitation. To date, Tom works as an Advanced MSK Practitioner in the primary care setting and has significant experience managing complex cases, including red flags, long-term conditions, and multimorbidity.

He is responsible for diagnosing and managing MSK conditions, requesting and interpreting blood tests and imaging, and referring to secondary care services (such as orthopaedics and physiotherapy) where clinically appropriate. He has completed advanced postgraduate training, enabling him to inject and prescribe medication autonomously. As a team lead, Tom supervises First Contact MSK Practitioners and supports colleagues through the FCP Roadmap to Practice. Tom has been awarded several prestigious clinical-academic fellowships through Health Education England and the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
