Expertise

Following graduation, Debbie completed a comprehensive series of six-month rotational posts, gaining wide-ranging experience across acute medicine, musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy, the Older People’s Unit, community services, Rakehead Rehabilitation Centre for complex neurological patients, and the acute stroke unit. This broad early exposure laid the foundations for her specialist clinical skills in both neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Debbie has extensive experience working within community services and spent four years in a Band 6 role within a community stroke rehabilitation team. She worked closely with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, and assistant practitioners to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care to stroke patients. Debbie is also highly experienced in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal and orthopaedic conditions, as well as clients presenting with long-term and persistent pain conditions, including CRPS, FND, and fibromyalgia.

She adopts a biopsychosocial approach to rehabilitation, recognising the interaction between physical, psychological, and social factors in recovery. Debbie is skilled in developing bespoke rehabilitation programmes and care plans, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to meet the complex and individual needs of each client. Debbie is passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care, with a strong focus on empowering patients through education, self-management strategies, and goal-oriented rehabilitation. Her breadth of experience across acute, community, neurological, and musculoskeletal settings enables her to manage complex presentations with confidence and sensitivity.
